Minnesota State University, Mankato students will vote Tuesday on a $10 student fee increase per semester to help fund a new $4 million seasonal sports dome.

Students will cast their votes online and 1,100 or more students have to vote and 50 percent of them have to vote in favor of the tuition increase in order for it to pass.

The proposed construction would include three artificial turf fields, covered by a seasonal bubble from Oct. 15 to April 14.

The dome would cost $4 million, half of which would be covered by the university. The other $2 million would come from an 83 cents per credit increase over the next 10 years.

If the referendum passes, the fee would first be collected during the Fall 2019 semester.
