Mankato is having its third snowiest February on record on record so far.

As of Tuesday morning, 22.8 inches of snow had fallen in the back yard of the Radio Mankato studios since the first of the month and National Weather Service Meteorologist Michelle Margraf said it’s definitely possible that Mankato will break a February snowfall record.

Those records date back to 1949, and Margraf explained the record for the month was in February of 1962 at 26.5 inches. Second place was 23.1 inches in 2011.

If just 3.8 inches more falls by the end of the month, February 2019 will go down in the record books as the snowiest.
