The state’s Cold Weather Rule that protects Minnesotans from natural gas or electricity shut-off ends Monday, but Minnesota Department of Commerce Commissioner Steve Kelley says there is still help for people struggling to pay their energy bills through the federally funded Energy Assistance Program.

“I encourage seniors, veterans, people with disabilities, families with children, or anyone struggling to pay their energy bills to apply for Energy Assistance. We want to make sure everyone stays warm and safe while we make it through the spring.”

Applications are available through local energy providers or at mn.gov/commerce.
