Though preliminary numbers from the Minnesota Health Department show a promising downward trend in drug overdose deaths overall statewide, there is one key area of concern. Last year, for the first time ever, synthetic opioids were linked to more overdose deaths than prescription painkillers and drug expert Carol Falkowski says…

“As long as fentanyl is around, we’re going to continue to see deaths related to it because it’s 50 times more powerful than morphine. This is really a wildcard in this whole situation.”

Falkowski says the “million-dollar question” is: how do we stop fentanyl from being available.
