There were more than 28,000 complaints, and nearly 5,000 scam reports submitted by military consumers in 2018. That’s according to the Minnesota Better Business Bureau and the Association of Military Banks of America Service.

“Military members are definitely one of the most at-risk groups of people that we try to work with and educate about the different scams that they could be facing.”

BBB spokeswoman Bess Ellenson says the top scams impacting service members were tied to new car dealers, home warranty plans and online retailers. She’s urging anyone who feels they’ve been scammed to report it to the BBB.
