Republican Senator Jim Abeler of Anoka says lawmakers are about 80-percent of the way toward reaching a bipartisan deal to help lower insulin costs. Lawmakers have been negotiating since the legislative session ended two months ago, again funding for the proposal remains the sticking point…

“Opinions range from letting big pharma pay for everything to having the state pay for everything, or as Glen Taylor wrote that should split the money from both pharma and the state which is actually my position.”

The proposal would provide statewide access to small quantities of insulin for emergency use and link patients to services for long-term access to insulin. Abeler says it’s time for the governor and legislative leaders to come to the table with a solution.
