President Trump is suggesting more stringent background checks and so-called “red flag” laws in the wake of recent deadly mass shootings in Texas and Ohio. Rob Doar with the Minnesota Gun Owner’s Caucus would like to see specifics, but he’s skeptical…

“By every indication that exists right now, neither one of those bills would’ve prevented these tragedies.”

On the other hand, Reverend Nancy Nord Bence with Protect Minnesota is thanking the president for his proposals and says locally…

“Minnesota would be safer if we could pass our criminal background check bill and red flag bill, we know that we’d be safer.”

Trump is also calling for mental health reforms and says that mentally unstable people should not have access to firearms.
