Update:

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office was just notified that the scheduled fiber maintenance that was scheduled to be performed on September 12, 2019, between 12:01 AM and 3:00 AM has been postponed due to contractor availability and the heavy rains received last night and rain expected again this evening. Once again, the scheduled fiber maintenance has been postponed.

There is scheduled fiber maintenance to be performed on September 12 between 12:01 AM and 3:00 AM which will effect 9-1-1 telephone landline communications in the Brown County area.

The communications provider will be working on a fiber cable near Russell, Minnesota and moving it to make room for bridge work to be performed on State Highway 91. This work will take between 10 minutes and up to 3 hours to complete.

The Brown County Dispatch Center will remain connected to the Minnesota ESINet and could receive emergency calls from other carriers (CLEC, wireless and VoIP).

Even though the work area is near Russell, Minnesota the Brown County area will be affected to include Comfrey, Hanska, New Ulm, Sleepy Eye and Springfield.

If you are in an area that is affected by the scheduled fiber maintenance affecting 9-1-1 calls, you can still reach the Brown County Dispatch Center by calling 507-233-6700.
