Blue Earth County has received eight-point-million dollars from the federal CARES act to be used for COVID-19 relief. County administrator Bob Meyer says they need to make decisions on how to use those funds quickly.

“The big challenge with this money is we have to spend it by December first of this year,” said Meyer. “So we have a small window to develop programs and get those working in the community.”

Meyer says discussions have taken place with the county board regarding addressing the direct expenses that the county is incurring as a result of the pandemic, a business assistance program, and an individual assistance program.
