A Mankato man is facing charges after authorities say he led police officers on a high speed case last week. Blue Earth County court records say 41 year old Thomas Mikell III was charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. Authorities say shortly after midnight on Thanksgiving morning, a Mankato Public Safety officer attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding but Mikkell failed to stop. The court report says the chase lasted 10 blocks and included speeds of 70 miles an hour in a 30 mile per hour zone. The chase ended when Mikkell’s vehicle crashed into a curb and some garbage cans. Public Safety says Mikkel attempted to flee on foot but was captured.
