(Hastings, MN) — Many in the community of Hastings are working to support non-binary and LGBTQ children. A group who didn’t support Kelsey Waits’ policies as she ran for re-election to the school board last month outed her eight-year-old transgender daughter Kit on Facebook, leading to outrage in parts of the community. Hundreds gathered at a rally to support those children just days after CNN shared the story of a Hastings family whose transgender child was publicly outed during a school board election campaign. Dozens of speakers shared information and stories at the rally.
