The Minnesota Senate and House both approved an additional one million dollars for avian flu response and the bill is now headed to the desk of Governor Tim Walz. Republican Senator Torrey Westrom from Elbow Lake points to the number of infections in Minnesota:

“Latest numbers of 21 farms across our state and over a million birds. In less than a week, it’s doubled.”

Support for the measure was nearly unanimous in the House, and unanimous in the Senate. Saint Paul Democrat Erin Murphy:

“We need move as swiftly as the infection to make sure that we’re supporting our farmers.”
