ICYMI... today on the National Day Calendar and Sports with Sully we had fun with Answer The Phone Like Buddy The Elf Day, remembering Chris Farley on the anniversary of his death, and a tip of the hat to one of my favorite drummers - the late Randy Castillo of Ozzy's band. https://www.mixcloud.com/KXLP/jay-and-sully-121819/

I'm likely in the minority here when I say A Momentary Lapse of Reason is my favorite Pink Floyd album. I'm more than likely in the 1% of that minority when I was Delicate Sound of Thunder is my favorite Pink Floyd concert film. When I first heard AMLOR, Roger Waters' absence felt fresh to the Floyd I loved. Waters is great in his own right. But that 1987 PF album, for me, was remarkable in hearing Gilmour, Wright, and Mason find their depth as songwriters. The record had structure, an arrangement, and the melodies' arrangements felt stronger in this new [...]
I was born into music. In grade school concert band I started to understand and grasp it, which would catapult me into really falling in love orchestra and symphony. I was in marching band, pep band, jazz band, state honor bands each year, but from grade school through high school, concert band was my favorite because of the music. The classics. The compositions. Yeah, as a kid I loved contemporary music and heavy metal, but man there was just something special about symphony. The progressions. The "stories" each instrument (section) would tell. I could see and would imagine what pictures the [...]
One of my favorite things to do on the morning show is having Sully on KXLP with a sports update and the National Day Calendar. Back in the mid 90s, Mike and I worked together at a small radio station in Albert Lea, at KATE-AM and KCPI-FM. So, we've got a work history and hanging out at company parties back then. You, our listeners, have told the both of us many times on different occasions that you can tell how well we get along just by listening to what we talk about and making fun of ourselves. That's a great compliment, [...]
