The Minnesota Department of Transportation has closed Highway 93 between Highway 169 and Le Sueur due to flooding on the Minnesota River. Drivers can use Highway 112 as an alternate route. MnDOT has also closed the Highway 99 Minnesota River bridge in St. Peter. Officials say an ice dam down river broke loose, causing a rapid increase in local river levels, and it's unclear how long the river bridge will be closed. Evacuations in Garden City after ice dam broke loose upriver on the Watonwan

Rising floodwaters on the Watonwan River forced the evacuation of more than a dozen people in Garden City. Authorities say an ice dam let loose upriver, sending water and sheets of ice over the riverbanks and into neighborhoods. Flood levels hit more than 5 feet Wednesday and officials say the current was so strong it washed away a city street. City leaders say it will likely take months to rebuild. The rising water stranded some and many have basements submerged.

Flood warnings, highway closures continue in the greater Mankato area

The National Weather Service says flood warnings remain in place for several rivers in the greater Mankato area. They include: Cottonwood River at New Ulm. It's at 14.93 feet and expected to cross into major flood stage on Saturday and crest at 17 feet by next Wednesday. Officials: Mother killed herself, her 2 children were killed

Authorities have identified the three people found dead in northwestern Minnesota as a mother and her two young children. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension on Wednesday said 28-year-old Emma LaRoque fatally shot herself at their home in rural Ogema in Becker County. The BCA says her children were homicide victims. They are identified as 4-year-old Frederick York and 9-year-old Shane Woods. Their bodies were found Monday at their home off Highway 34.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is closing Highway 93 between Highway 169 and Le Sueur by 8:30 p.m. tonight, March 20 due to flooding on the Minnesota River. MnDOT estimates that motorists can safely commute home, but that water will have risen to unsafe levels after dark. Motorists can use Highway 112 as an alternate route. The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol closed Highway 19 from Henderson to Highway 169 by 1:00 p.m. Tuesday due to flooding from the Minnesota River.
