A New Richland man is charged with drunk driving after Blue Earth County Sheriff’s officials say he crashed his vehicle in front of a squad car in January, sped off, and then crashed it again.
A deputy approaching the intersection of State Highway 83 and County Road 90 watched as 29-year-old Timothy Hauge blew through the stop sign at the T-intersection without braking and flew into the ditch, traveling about 80 yards before coming to a stop.
As he was looking for a field approach to drive out to the vehicle, the deputy says the vehicle made it back onto County Road 90 and sped off at more than 90 miles per hour and as the officer tried to catch up he saw the vehicle crash into another ditch, drive through the field, and again get back on the road.
Hauge was pulled over near Highway 22, where the deputy says he stumbled from the vehicle, talked about being worried he would lose his job, and admitted that he had “a lot” to drink. Hauge complained of back pain and was taken to the hospital, where a blood sample was taken and sent to the BCA lab. The criminal complaint shows a result of .22.
