It was a busy weekend in downtown Mankato. With the MSU Mavericks hoasting Northern Michigan Friday and Saturday evening, the Aaron Lewis concert Friday, and the “Dancing With The Mankato Stars”-American Red Cross fundraising event Saturday night, parking was at a premium in my downtown neighborhood.

I walked over and caught the Mavericks 1-0 win Saturday evening. If you’ve not made it to the Mankato Civic Center to catch the top-ranked Mavericks, time’s running out. The regular-season finale is Friday and Saturday, February 21st & 22ed at the Mavs host Alabama Huntsville. The regular season wraps up at Bemidji State the final days of February. The Mavericks look to host the first rounds of the WCHA tournament in early March.

Post-season hopes are high! With a 26-4-2 overall record, the Mavericks are the favorites to win the conference tournament and hope to advance deep int the NCAA playoffs. The ultimate goal, of course, is the “Frozen Four” April 9th in Detroit, Michigan. Go Mavs!
