The Economic Development Grant program supports initiatives which enable communities to create more prosperous local economies by growing economic development and entrepreneurship initiatives.
The 2021 Economic Development Grant award recipients are:
- $10,000 to Cannon River Chapter of Sustainable Farming Association to increase networking and educational opportunities for food producers in Le Sueur, Rice, Dodge, Goodhue and Steele Counties.
- $20,000 to Fairmont Economic Development Authority for educational sessions for local business owners to learn about succession planning in order to retain businesses in the community when owners are ready to retire.
- $5,500 to City of Pine Island for a bookkeeping workshop for small businesses in Pine Island and Stewartville to provide local business owners with the financial knowledge necessary to evaluate the profit and loss of their business.
- $20,000 to Southeast Minnesota Food Rescue and Redistribution to reduce economic barriers and strengthen food distribution channels for emerging food growers and processors in southeast Minnesota who identify as Black, Indigenous or People of Color (BIPOC).
