The Mankato City Council recently approved the purchase of body worn cameras. Before this technology can be used by Public Safety officers, a written policy must be in place (Minnesota State Statute: 626.8743). Staff are reviewing a model policy for body worn cameras (developed by the League of Minnesota Cities) to help assist with policy development.

The public is invited and encouraged to provide input about this model policy through Wednesday, May 11. Comments about the draft policy may also be provided at the 6 p.m., May 9 City Council meeting, held in the Minnesota River Room at the Intergovernmental Center.
